Our former section treasurer Ray Monelle donated this trophy. Gary and I thought long and hard about its purpose and sought the views of others. We came to the conclusion that we are great at recognizing and valuing our players, the parents and players are also good at rewarding the time our coaches put in. As a section we have never recognized our outstanding volunteers. The purpose of this trophy is just that; this season there were several candidates. Dan and Steve did what many of their forebears (including myself) talked about. They organized and set up a mini tournament for age groups from 6 through to 12. There was no soft start, hundreds of players, coaches and parents from all over the country descended upon us. The feedback was exceptional and we have little choice but to run it again.

It was for these reasons that we were very pleased to surprise Steve and Dan at their U6 and U7's awards ceremony today and present them with their trophy.
