It is with regret that Weston has decided to withdraw from the Somerset Cup Semi Final

It is with a good deal of regret that the Club has decided to withdraw from this year's cup competition. At the start of last week were notified that the semi final against Hornets was due to be played tomorrow night. Given the importance of our league matches against Bracknell and Redingensians, the club sought deferment of the match for a week, or at a later date, convenient to both clubs.

However, over the weekend, county officials reaffirmed their intention for the match to be played this Tuesday, despite earlier matches in this year's competition having been postponed and rearranged at a later date. Whilst our league status remains precarious, the committee felt that the recent efforts of the team, which has seen three league victories in a row, was best rewarded by having a free week's training ahead of our final home league match this Saturday against champions elect - Redingensians.

This is the first time that the club have felt the need to take such action, but is consistent with the wishes of the members at the recent forum where it was agreed that every possible effort should be made to remain in National League 3 South West.

Finally we wish our neighbours, Hornets all the best in the final against Wells, and apologise for any inconvenience caused.
