Victories for Weston United, Athletic and Colts but defeat for 1stXV

Three tries from skipper George Sparks (pictured) not enough to see Weston 1stXV to victory

Despite three tries from skipper George Sparks, Weston 1stXV suffered a 45-32 defeat at home to Bracknell who crossed for four tries for a bonus point but the Seasiders also secured a try-scoring bonus point for their five tries.

Weston trailed 18-15 at the break after two Sparks tries with new fly-half Iain Chisholm converting the second and adding a penalty. The visitors increased their lead through two tries and a conversion before Weston were awarded a penalty try, converted by Chisholm.

The visitors added a penalty before Sparks completed his hat-trick. Two more tries and a conversion but Bracknell kept the Seasiders at bay with two more tries and a conversion before wing Ollie Caton crossed for Weston final try.

The result leaves Weston tenth in the National Three South West table and Bracknell fifth while Redingensians remain at the top after a 53-5 home win over Oxford Harlequins. Brixham are a point behind following a 25-22 home win over Newton Abbot.

Exmouth are third, another point behind, after a 37-12 home win over Old Redcliffians with Hornets fourth, again another point adrift, after a 41-16 win at Chard. Barnstaple won 33-nil at home to Old Patesians while Bournemouth won 20-11 at home to Old Centralians.

Weston United made it three wins in a row to remain third in the Tribute Somerset Premier table with a 45-17 win away to Old Redcliffians 2ndXV. Gordano remain unbeaten at the top with a 14-10 home win over Tor while second placed Winscombe won 39-nil away to Clevedon 2dXV.

The other results saw Minehead Barbarians win 18-9 at home to Oldfield Old Boys; Taunton 2ndXV won 95-5 at home to Imperial while Yatton won 40-12 at home to Nailsea & Backwell.

Weston Athletic returned to winning ways with a 20-12 win away to Nailsea & Backwell 2dXV to keep the Seasiders in fourth place in the Tribute Somerset Two North table where Bristol Harlequins 2ndXV are second with a 44-12 home win over Clevedon 3rdXV.

Gordano 2ndXV are third, six points above Weston, with a 57-43 win away to Old Culverhaysians; Oldfield Old Boys 2ndXV won 17-7 at home to Walcot 2dXV while Winscombe 2dXV won 17-5 at home to Stothert & Pitt 2ndXV.

Finally, the Colts returned to league action after a couple of weeks off, and secured an impressive 12-10 win away at Taunton, based on a powerful pack performance, and an excellent tactical kicking display from Harry Flower. Prop Sol Ward scored the Seasider's two tries, with Flower adding a conversion.
