Athletic win with 14 try demolition and keep top spot in league

In driving rain and strong winds Weston Athletic played a controlled and accurate game in which they utterly dominated their opponents.

Weston opened the scoring inside two minutes with a well taken try by number eight Monelle and this set the pattern of the game. Despite the conditions Weston ran the ball at every opportunity and had scored a further three tries within 20 minutes from Kieran Pulsford, Si Stuart, and skipper Dan Prime.

Old Culverhay then produced a good spell and drove at the Weston line forcing a penalty which was quickly taken by their scrum half who wriggled over for a try. This was to be the only score for Culverhay as Weston took control and ran in a further two tries from Harry Nash and centre Ben Wheeler, to turn round 38-5 up.

Weston continued to dominate in the second half despite playing into the wind and driving rain. They ran the opposition ragged with eight more tries. Prime, McCarthy, Stuart, Chamberalin, Wheeler and Salisbury all scored. Prime completed a hat trick of tries before Loz Ware rounded things off with Weston's 14th try. Dan Prime converted a total of 8 tries and also scored a hat trick of touch downs to bring his personal tally for the game to 31 points. In driving rain and strong winds Weston Athletic played a controlled and accurate game in which they utterly dominated their opponents.

Sportingly Lewis Hancock and Elliott Monelle volunteered to play for Culverhay when two of their players were injured.

Weston Athletic came away with a big win which as well as being well deserved keeps them at the top of Somerset 2 North.
