Weston-super-Mare make the short trip down the M5 to College Way on Saturday afternoon to face Bridgwater & Albion in the quarter-finals of this season’s Renault Somerset Cup, kick off 3pm.

This will be the 13th meeting between the two sides in the competition and both clubs know that league status counts for nothing when it comes to local bragging rights going in to the festive period.

The sides have met in four Somerset Cup finals with the honours shared, the last being in 2007 at Wellington when Weston won 33-7. Bridgwater won 38-10 at Burnham-on-Sea in the first round of this season’s competition while Weston had a bye.

Having lost 9 of 14 league games so far this season Bridgwater have struggled but they have won their last three home matches including last weekend’s 36-16 win over North Dorset to take them out of the relegation zone.

Bridgwater have named an unchanged starting line-up while Weston have moved Ross Bennett to scrum half, Harry Jones comes in at full back with James Arnold starting on the left wing.

There is still one outstanding first round tie to be played between Hornets and Wellington which will take place on December 29 as will the quarter-final tie between Old Redcliffians and Taunton.

The winners of the first round tie between Hornets and Wellington will be away to Cup holders North Petherton in the quarter-finals on a date to be advised along with the other match between Clevedon and Bristol Harlequins.
