Instructions

Kick off is 3pm.

Weston-super-Mare welcome back from injury wing Steve Thompson, centre Dewey Swartbooi, flanker Jamie Rudkin and scrum half Jack Conway, who starts from the bench, for their visit to second placed Bournemouth.

The recent victories and narrow defeat away at Chinnor has given the Weston team belief that they are capable of competing with teams in the top half of the table and with Bournemouth the challenge is to compete and put in a good performance.

Mark Philp. Weston's chairman of rugby, said: "We have never done ourselves any favours at Bournemouth in recent seasons by giving them a start and trying to play catch up.

"But Weston are on a three-match winning run which is a vast improvement in recent form. The team is improving and this week will be a benchmark as to how far we have come.

"If we do play to our recent standard and perhaps raise it a notch we will be close at the end, we will certainly be putting in some hard work this week to give ourselves the best possible chance.

"Our aim will be to stay in touch and test them in the final quarter, this is a massive task but if we are to compete at the top of the table in future then it has to be achieved.

"Bournemouth will be tough to beat and will want to cement their place in second behind Hartpury and will no doubt after we pushed them close at Weston be well prepared. All we can do is put in another 80 minute performance and give it our best shot, if we do this then you never know."

Thompson replaces George Wright who goes to the bench, Swartbooi takes over from Chris Young while skipper George Sparks moves to No.8 in place of Gavin Simpson, for the return of Rudkin at blindside flanker.

Bournemouth bounced back from their 42-5 home defeat against title favourites Hartpury College with a 42-12 victory away to Newton Abbot which included three tries from Dan Connolly.

The ex-Pontypool centre-cum-winger, and Wales Sevens international, joined Bournemouth in late January but having taken time to settle into the fold at Chapel Gate he has made it four tries in only three starts.

Victory at home to Weston-Super-Mare on Saturday could secure second spot for Bournemouth and a coveted play-off place in Lions’ bid for promotion.
