match report from Chris Heath

Weston travelled to Drybrook in the hope that their patched up side could produce a victory. However it was not to be and despite some fine individual performances notably from flanker Bryan Webb and centre Huw Morgan Weston in the end got what they deserved after an error strewn performance which gifted their hosts three of their four tries and despite periods of the game when the visitors dominated possession they invariably coughed it up at crucial moments.
Drybrook took the lead in the eighth minute through a penalty and then five minutes later missed a line out on their own five metre line to give the home lock a try he gleefully took. The try was converted. Weston hit back when a powerful break by Morgan resulted in a try for left wing Matt Watkins.
Drybrook increased their lead when a quick tap penalty was taken by the home scrum half who ran through bemused defenders to go under the sticks for another converted try.
The visitors staged a late first half rally and Watkins came in from his wing to take a fine pass from scrum half Hayden Tuttiett after a strong catch and drive from a lineout.
Weston started much the brighter in the second half and the pressure led to Drybrook infringing. Weston kicked for the corner and from the resulting lineout Weston again made an error which eventually led to Drybrook scoring up the other end. They scored their bonus point try soon after but Weston managed a late consolation through replacement wing Mitch Salisbury who took his chance well.
Weston entertain Avonmouth this Saturday at the Rec. Kick off 2.30pm
