match report by chris heath

This game marked skipper George Sparks 250th appearance but it got off to a bad start as he was shown a yellow within five minutes and the visitors capitalised when Skipper Colin Aldworth crashed over. Weston levelled when right wing Chris Young expertly scored in the corner following a counter attack orchestrated by Scrum half Hayden Tuttiett and finished after a superb long pass by centre Kirk Middlemiss. However with the scores level Teignmouth hooker Pete Parsons benefitted from a catch and drive and the score was converted by right wing Dan Force.
Weston's cause wasn't helped by prop Ollie Streeters early departure with a leg injury. This meant the early introduction of replacement prop Sam Coles who was returning from a long term injury.
Fly half Dan Lomax cut the lead to four points with a penalty and on the stroke of half time Weston took the lead when following the ball shooting out of the scrum left wing Matt Watkins used all his talent to cross.
The return of Glenn Dickson for his first game since a horrific injury suffered early in the season at half time galvanised Weston and following his run and the excellent loose head Rich Fords charge full back Ross Bennett crossed. Dickson converted and then followed up with another powerful run which ended in flanker Rich Bignell getting a deserved score. Dickson converted Youngs second before number eight Paul Morrissey broke blind to cross in the corner on the stroke of time.
This performance carried on Westons upturn in performance of late and the return of Dickson along with Coles and lock Ashley Russell means that for the first time in a long time Weston are getting back to somewhere near a full strength squad which will be needed as there are several difficult fixtures on the horizon starting with a difficult trip to third places Newent this saturday knowing that their hosts are in a rich vein of form.
