Huw Morgan crosses the Chard line 4 times, and Adam Godfrey gains a hat trick, as Seasiders continue unbeaten run

With five key players missing and unavailable for selection for this game Weston demonstrated the value of well attended training sessions as squad players stepped up, demonstrating Weston's strength in depth, as the team entertained royally running in 12 unanswered tries against bottom of the table Chard.

Weston had the vast majority of possession but when Chard did get hands on the ball Weston's defence was secure and absolute. With great line speed and hard tackling they never let their opponents settle and the back row turned the ball several times. A flow of good possession allowed Weston to run in six tries in each half.

Huw Morgan in his first appearance in the side this season had a hat trick within 15 minutes and the first half onslaught continued as tries were added by James Mackay, Adam Godfrey and Dan Spelman.

At half time Weston had a convincing 36-0 lead and they remained ruthless and clinical in the second half as tries were scored by man of the match Robbie MacKay who set up many others in an excellent performance, Will Young, Adam Godfrey completing a second half hat trick, Huw Morgan adding to his personal tally with a fourth, and with just a couple of minutes to go Hayden Tuttiett completed the rout. James Mackay converted 5 of the tries leaving Weston with an impressive 70 to nil victory.

Despite this emphatic victory Weston remain convinced that their best is yet to come. There were a number of simple handling errors and their off loading game is in development but improving all the time. For Chard, who showed a huge effort throughout, a number of new players are expected soon, and we can expect a much tougher time in the return fixture.

Weston remain top of SW1W having secured five successive wins and four bonus points. They will be hoping to maintain their unbeaten run when they visit sixth placed North Petherton next Saturday 8th October
