Second draw of the season for Seasiders

Weston travelled to Bracknell with hopes high of getting their first win of the season.
The team were delighted to congratulate Paul Morrissey as he made his 100th appearance for Weston in this game.
Almost from the kick off Weston’s backs were on the attack and the move broke down due to a high and dangerous tackle on Young for which the Bracknell number 8 Hala’ufia was sent to the sin bin.
Weston were attacking well and a series of phases and recycled ball saw Tuttiett cross for a try converted by Mackay. Weston squandered several more chances to score tries but had to be content with two penalty goals from James MacKay to go in at half time with what looked like a comfortable lead 0-13.
Weston seemed to be asleep in the opening exchanges and a combination of missed tackles, and poor kicking for territory allowed Bracknell to score a penalty and two tries in an eight minute spell which saw them take the lead by 15-13.
Bracknell went further ahead with another penalty with a quarter of an hour gone and then another try following poor tackling which gave Bracknell a ten point lead with just 20 minutes remaining.
Despite Captain Coles being yellow carded for a team offside offence Weston clawed their way back into the game. With Rukhadze at loose head the Bracknell scrum remained under pressure, but the referee failed to penalise the home front row who wheeled or stood up at every scrum. Following rapid recycling and swift passing to the edge Young scored a well taken try on the left touchline converted by Mackay. Weston came close twice more when Jones knocked on a chip and chase as he crossed the line and another chance was missed when Young failed to gather the ball when Weston broke free on the narrow side after a scrum. Mackay kicked a penalty on the stroke of full time to level the scores and despite valiant efforts Weston were unable to capitalise on position and possession and the game finished as a draw.
Jacob Cox who came into the side at very late notice for the injured Tom Crossman made his debut as a replacement for Rich Bignell who needed treatment for a hand injury. He put in a good shift and tackled well.
Weston should be very disappointed as they had the better of the game and they gave a way a clear lead by failing to concentrate when Bracknell applied good pressure just after the break. Weston continue to give away far too many penalties and were adjudged on no less than 12 occasions to have infringed. Weston will also feel that they gifted at least two tries to their opponents and probably left 20 points on the park unscored. They were on the verge on completely breaking free in this game but have not succeeded in making this happen
