Weston get the Berkshire blues.

Weston are going through a sticky patch at the moment and their performance at Newbury on Saturday did little to ease the growing concerns prevalent at the moment. The conditions were poor but Newbury mastered them early on when following a number of drives they opened the scoring with a converted try and within half an hour they were twenty four points to the good.
During that time Weston had their chances but a combination of poor ball handling and wrong decisions in the red zone cost them dear.
However the visitors finally came to life in the final minutes of the first half when prop Ollie Streeter crossed to reward his good work of both he and skipper Sam Coles throughout and to end a concerted period of pressure. Mackay converted and when right wing Hayden Tuttiett scored shortly after a revival looked on the cards especially when not long after the restart Mackay added a penalty to reduce the arrears to nine points.
This purple patch before and after half time only led to frustration as Newbury scored two more unconverted tries to give them a much needed bonus point victory.
Weston were without regular centres Dickson and Nel and although they never gave up they need to work on a more concerted defensive effort allied to a more ruthless streak when in the opposition red zone if they are to start climbing the table.
