James Greatorex from the Colts and myself are running things this year. If we have an ambition it is for every player to feel that they have contributed and been involved, not an easy task when for many, setting others up is not always the first thought and running forwards 1 yard is not as good as running 20 yards sideways.
At Under 11's teams consist of a maximum of twelve players, with five forwards forming the scrum and the remaining players forming the back line. Kicking out of hand is now allowed in open play and drop kicks for restarts. Conversions (if posts are available)are allowed to, although fly kicking a loose ball is still not permitted. Lineouts are competitive although lifting is not allowed, nor is it permitted to hand off a tackler.
Training and matches are on Sunday's from 10:30 to 12:00, at this stage the emphasis still more on training than on competitive matches. Parents are requested to stay at the club while their children are training, as the occasional bump may require attention, and coaches will have a whole squad with which to contend.
If there any more boys or girls in Year 6 who would like to join us we would be delighted to see you at a training session on Sunday or a Tuesday evening. No experience neccesary just enthusiasm and commitment!
