All Hail Nailsea As Weston Are Frozen Out

Brave Weston gave everything in defeat to an uncompromising Nailsea & Backwell.

The novelty of brand new kit soon wore off in the wind, rain and hail that saw many of Westons players literally frozen to the spot and so cold they could not function, let alone play against their visitors from Nailsea & Backwell.

With hindsight resting several experienced players from the start to allow others greater match play opportunity was a coaching mistake as it did not really benefit anyone because it allowed Nailsea to capitalise on that inexperience and take Weston to task from the kick off. To their credit passing was attempted but hands were cold and spirits dampened plus Nailsea were unrelenting.

Out of the confusion the enthusiasm of Morgan Taylor and Hobbes Gaulton was apparent and the promise of new boy Kieran Crowley was evident to all as he ran powerfully with the ball several times.

It took a lot of courage for many players to take the field for the second half, in addition to a biting wind several times hail crashed into their faces making it impossible to see.

But with a stronger squad on the field they competed well and kept Nailsea to just two tries which was a magnificent effort all things considered.

Star Player on his Debut was Kieran Crowley.
