The smiles were back on the players faces after a deserved victory over a more mature Burnham team that failed to intimidate Weston in a hard fought encounter.

What a difference a day can make. Weston entertained Burnham on sea and Baglan RFC from Port Talbot in an end of season triangular just 24 hours after losing heavily to Old Brodleains RFC.

Having been reduced to just 11 available players they drafted Jackson Norris from the U10's into their squad to make a 12.

Several players had to be shuffled about to take on a much larger Burnham side but today's team were not going to be put off by that after a determined training session before taking the field.

Almost immediately it was noticeable that there was an infectious enthusiasm spreading among them and the backs led by Hobbes Gaulton at fly half had a much better shape about them. Burnham's powerful players were repeatedly stopped in their tracks and fierce rucking in which makeshift second row Alfie Calcutt impressed saw the ball repeatedly turned over. Burnham were struggling to cope with Weston's pace and only some desperate tackling and a few illegal scrag tackles kept Weston out.

The pressure finally told and Jamie Meaden was on hand to make for the line, not even a clothes line of a tackle stopped his aggressive charge to the line. Burnham replied quickly when their almost impossibly mature lock ran through having broke several tackles.

Jack Rollings was really unlucky not to score with a really pacey run along the left. The ensuing lineout was stolen by Weston who got the bounce of the ball for Alfie to score.

The second half was a pulsating affair but Weston dominated territory and again by keeping a disciplined back line they denied Burnam any easy space as every player made good early tackles.

The minutes ticked by slowly and the last play saw Burnham keep the ball for several phases before Alfie Calcutt had the presence of mind to kick the ball out.

This was a hard earned and disciplined performance by Weston who were left with huge smiles on their faces.

Star Player Hobbes Gaulton who kept his backs well organised made good decisions throughout.
