A last gasp try denied Weston their first ever result against Cheddar.

Weston suffered their second narrow defeat of the morning to an accomplished Cheddar team whose backs exploited every bit of space on offer to them with some silky passing and explosive running.

Again it was Weston's forwards who impressed but new boy Aidan Xuereb made everyone sit and take notice as he showed real potential with an exhibition of powerful running from centre.

Cheddar opened the scoring out wide after a missed tackle and doubled their lead from close range. Weston doubled their efforts and under intense pressure Cheddar were rushed into kicking. The ball flew up in the air and went backwards, Dylan was on hand to catch and force and put the ball over the line for a much deserved try.

Turning round this exciting game was on a knife edge particularly when Tom Burge again showed great strength to touch down with what appeared to be half the Cheddar team on him.

Aidan Xuereb twice ran the ball from centre and broke several tackles as with powerful runs which nearly turned attack to defence. Bradley having a go at scrum half for the first time made some good breaks and passed the ball to Hobbes at fly half who got the backs going when he could.

Lottie Dadds on the wing again showed that she is one of the most positionally aware in the team giving good instruction to her team mates as it looked like Weston were headed for a draw.

But as the time elapsed Cheddar were awarded a penalty which they chose to run, just for once Weston failed to close down the gap and Cheddar were through.

Leading tacklers Isaac, Ciaran and Alfie.

Star Player Aidan Xuereb.
