Weston-super-Mare fly-half James Mackay is set to make his 200th appearance for the first team when the Seasiders host Okehampton on Saturday [January 15, 2022] in the Tribute South West Premier league, kick-off 2.30 pm. 

Mackay became the Club’s all-time top points scorer with his first conversion in the pre-Christmas 48-27 victory at Ivybridge. 

His tally is now 34 tries, 425 conversions, 282 penalties and one drop goal to take him to 1869 points, of which 88 points have been scored this season. 

His debut for the Weston-super-Mare 1stXV came, while he was still a Colt, in the South West 1 match at home as Clifton won 28-21 on October 4, 2008, when Mackay kicked three penalties and a conversion. 

The Weston Mercury report read – ‘COLTS fly-half James Mackay made a more than promising debut for Weston, but it was not quite enough to prevent unbeaten Clifton from victory, scoring five tries to two.’ 

Mackay will join Jon Pitt (1993/4 to 2003/4) on 200 appearances to become joint 55th in Weston 1stXV all-time appearance table.
