Weston-super-Mare have been drawn against the University of Bath in the Quarter-finals of this season’s Webb Ellis Somerset Cup with the tie to be played on Saturday, February 26, 2022, kick-off 2.30 pm at Weston-super-Mare.

The University of Bath were drawn as the home side but they continue to forfeit the home draws so are more than happy to travel to Weston-super-Mare.

The Seasiders were awarded a BYE in the First Round while the University of Bath were scheduled to face Chard. But Chard have withdrawn from the competition to concentrate of pushing for promotion from the Tribute Western Counties West league.

Weston-super-Mare, who have won the competition on more occasions than any other club, and the University of Bath last met in the competition on November 20, 2018 at Weston-super-Mare.

It was the third season in succession that the University of Bath had visited Weston-super-Mare in the Quarter final of the Somerset Cup. The Students led 19-3 at half time after the Seasiders had taken an early lead with a penalty.

The second half saw the Seasiders reduce the arrears to three points through two converted tries before taking the lead with three minutes to play. But two converted tries from a very fit student outfit sealed a 33-24 victory.

The University of Bath reached the final of the Cup in the 2018/19 season only to be beaten 29-19 by Taunton while Weston-super-Mare last won the competition the previous season with a 33-19 win over North Somerset neighbours Clevedon.
