U15s Weston 66 5 Clifton

Weston welcomed Clifton to the Rec for only the second ever meeting between the sides. On a cold but dry day Weston were quickly on the offensive and set up camp in the visitors 22, only some heroic defending from Clifton combined with far too many individual errors keeping the score sheet clean. Eventually, after the sustained pressure a charge down from the excellent Mitchell Bird saw Weston open their account, Archie Tilsley adding a conversion, 7-0 Weston.

To their credit and despite being under the kosh, Clifton capitalised from some sloppy Weston play and went straight back and scored a close range try of their own, 7-5. The remainder of the first half was a scrappy affair, punctuated by Weston scores from Eddie Davies, who seems to be back on his finest form, Reese White, who had an outstanding game, and George Bamsey who Clifton couldn't seem to stop all morning, Tilsley adding two further kicks. After a half time talk, Weston began the second period in a much more determined mode , basics at the breakdown area were more clinical resulting in quicker and cleaner ball and the game all of a sudden became more straightforward. As Clifton tired, Weston began to cut loose and second half tries followed from Eddie Davies (3) George Bamsey (2)and Jake Middleton, Tilsley , who continues to make big improvements added 5 further conversions. Final score WsM 66 Clifton 5.

Credit to Clifton for not letting their heads drop, thanks to the Weston lads who did a shift for the visitors.
