A great and open game of rugby despite strong gales and driving rain

Weston u15's welcomed tourists from Llanharan to the Rec. Unfortunately for all present, near hurricane force winds and driving rain also turned up and any prospect of quality rugby looked decidedly bleak.

Weston however refused to be unsettled by the gales and set about their Welsh guests from the off with some superb and controlled power plays which culminated with prop George Bamsey securing a first half hat trick aided along the way by centres Jake Middleton (2) and Josh Bloxy Bloxham, Archie Tilsley added a solitary conversion for a half time score of 32-0 to Weston.

With Bamsey and Middleton replaced at half time to fulfil Somerset u15's duty at Yeovil, Weston continued to press and soon after the break a quick fire hat trick from guest George Brazier moved the home side into a handsome 53-0 lead. To their enormous credit, Llanharan refused to surrender and as Weston lost some intensity the guests added four unanswered tries of their own for a final score of Weston 53 Llanharan 20.For Weston, hooker Jimmy Bamsey had a fine game in the loose and continues to make big improvements, flanker Mitch Bird worked tirelessly and skipper for the day Josh Gardner led from the front.

A great and open game of rugby played in a brilliant spirit by both sides, thanks to our guests Fin, George and Charlie for making the short trip to help out, all had great outings. Well done to all involved. Jon
